Fire protection for hazardous materials in a chemical facility
Protecting hazardous materials requires a fire suppression system that reacts quickly and effectively. The Egyptian Medical Authority needed a tailored solution to safeguard its storage and handling areas. A foam deluge multi-hazard suppression system was selected to meet these critical safety requirements.
Recently, Viking took part in a fire protection project for hazardous materials in a chemical facility in Egypt in collaboration with MK for integrated trading. After assessing the needs, location, and type of goods, Viking recommended a foam deluge multi-hazard suppression system to meet the facility’s critical safety requirements.
A Targeted Fire Protection Solution
The system was designed for rapid and effective fire suppression, incorporating:
- UL/FM 150-gallon vertical bladder tank – Providing a reliable foam supply.
- Alcohol-resistant 3% foam concentrate – Ensuring effective suppression of flammable liquid fires.
- HALAR-coated concentrate control valve – Concentrate Shut-off valve
- Swing check valve – Preventing backflow to maintain system integrity.
- FSX-A deluge valve – A diaphragm-operated valve controlling water flow into the deluge foam system.
- Viking ratio controller – Ensuring accurate foam and water proportioning for efficient fire protection.

Covering four enclosures, this system delivers comprehensive protection for the facility, reinforcing safety where it matters most.
