Over time, the R&D team has refined UniVario’s robust design to deliver rapid fire detection with minimal false alarm, even in extremely high temperature. Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, Univario operates effectively in clean rooms, harsh conditions, confined spaces and explosion-hazardous areas. The system’s range of applications has expanded and now with various models are available to meet the specific requirements of different environments.

New technology: a modular design

When Viking introduced the first UniVario range in 2006, it was a fire detection system like no other. Today, UniVario is an intelligent, platform-based system equipped with advanced signal processing and highly responsive sensors, offering even greater protection for people and assets in the event of a fire. With new technological upgrades, UniVario can be integrated into fire alarm systems as conventional detectors or with a communication loop module (using the Apollo loop protocol). This communication module transforms UniVario into an Apollo loop device, unlike most other available industrial fire detectors, allowing events to be assigned to a detector and enabling the fire detection and suppression control panel to initiate appropriate measures. This unique feature ensures precise event reporting, directly linking alarms to their respective detectors.

Why upgrading my UniVario?

While UniVario remains fully functional, Viking experts recommend updating the system every 8 years to ensure optimal performance. This upgrade ensures the system benefits from the latest technology and integrates easily with the fire detection system or control panel in place.

Compatibility with other Viking portfolio products

As mentioned above, the UniVario range can be connected to existing fire detection and control panel. Viking experts recommend linking it to the Clunid DCP-1, the advanced fire detection and suppression panel, which efficiently manages key monitoring and control functions.

Lastly, the Viking UniVario FLS-1 Ex Flame Simulator will complete your fire detection setup (available soon). This simulator is designed for reliable testing of IR flame detectors, operating at distances of up to 9 meters.
