Protect what matters by sharing knowledge
In April, Viking EMEA organized several technical seminars and training sessions across Europe. Bringing together installers, consultants, fire protection experts and insurers, these events highlighted the evolving challenges of fire safety and the importance of staying aligned with the latest industry requirements. Let’s take a look back at two of the seminars held in Switzerland and Austria.
Preparing the Future of Fire Protection
Fire can develop and spread within only a few minutes, turning a small incident into a major emergency with significant consequences for people, buildings and business continuity. In industrial facilities, logistics centers, energy installations or commercial buildings, having the right fire protection system in place is essential to limit damage, reduce downtime, keep operations running smoothly and, more importantly, help safeguard people.
As regulations evolve and technologies continue to develop, the fire protection industry must constantly adapt. This is particularly true with the transition toward fluorine-free foam concentrates and the growing focus on sustainable fire protection solutions.
To raise awareness about the importance of fire protection and support customers, consultants and partners through changing regulations, Viking EMEA regularly organizes Fire Protection seminars across Europe. Here is a recap of the key topics discussed during the seminars hosted in Austria and Switzerland throughout April and May.
SFFF Focus

The seminars focused on major industry topics such as fluorine-free foam systems, PFAS regulations, Viking’s solutions about Nitrogen generators and the growing product range of low-pressure water mist technologies.
Participants had the opportunity to discuss the technical and regulatory developments currently shaping the future of fire protection systems.
Particular attention was given to the transition away from PFAS-containing foam concentrates and the respective timeline to meet this transition towards environmentally friendly solutions. As regulations become stricter across Europe, companies are preparing for the move toward fluorine-free alternatives while ensuring fire protection performance remains effective and compliant with industry standards.
To address these challenges, Viking EMEA already offers several PFAS-free solutions that are tested and approved, including bladder tanks, proportioners or the AX1 aspirated foam nozzle, currently one of the smallest approved nozzles available on the market for use with SFFF foam concentrates.
Water Mist Technologies
In addition to foam systems, the seminars also covered low-pressure water mist technologies as an alternative to traditional sprinkler systems for specific applications.

Low-pressure water mist systems can use up to 80% less water than traditional sprinkler systems while still delivering the same level of performance in applications such as car parks or healthcare facilities. By releasing extremely fine water droplets, these systems efficiently cool the fire and reduce heat, helping suppress fires quickly while minimizing water consumption.
This makes water mist systems an ideal solution for protecting sensitive environments and high-value assets, including hospitals, hotels and other facilities where limiting water damage and minimal space requirements are essential.
Sharing Expertise Across Europe
Through these seminars, Viking EMEA continues to support the industry by sharing technical expertise and raising awareness about the importance of a efficient fire protection solution.
