Start your transition to fluorine-free systems with Viking AX1 Foam nozzle
Over the past ten years, the firefighting foam industry has changed significantly. The main driver has been the phase-out of PFAS-containing foam concentrates in favor of more environmentally responsible alternatives: Synthetic Fluorine-Free Foams (SFFF). To support this transition, Viking has designed the AX1 Foam Nozzle designed specifically to work with new generation Synthetic Fluorine Free Foams, while delivering the same level of performance.
Environmental concerns and stricter regulations have led the firefighting industry to reduce PFAS-based foam concentrates. This has driven strong demand for foam concentrates formulated without intentionally added PFAS, known as SFFF. While offering clear environmental benefits, SFFF also introduces new challenges for manufacturers and designers.
With this in mind, Viking has designed and developed a new discharge device: the AX1 Aspirated Foam Water Sprinkler Nozzle. The AX1 Aspirated foam nozzle delivers more effective foam blanket than standard non-aspirated sprinklers. It has been specifically designed to work with new generation of SFFF foams and to cover multiple fuel types.

The AX1 represents a significant step in both SFFF performance and installation efficiency. It is available in pendent and upright versions. The AX1 is currently the smallest UL-listed foam water sprinkler nozzle on the market, up to 17% shorter than comparable models, while delivering the same level of performance. Its compact size is particularly valuable in environments with limited installation space, such as diesel generator rooms, marine vessels, offshore platforms, and fuel loading racks. It is also well suited for other applications such as petrochemical plants and aircraft hangars, as its reduced size makes it less exposed to accidental damage.
Despite its reduced size, the AX1 provides wide coverage across multiple SFFF concentrates and a broad range of ignitable fuel types, supported by an extensive UL Listing range.
