Driven by our continuous growth, for our manufacturing location in Bressana, Bottarone (PV), we are searching for a Manufacturing Engineer that will be part of our Technical department team based in Italy.

As a Manufacturing Engineer your main responsibility will be ensure that the manufacturing process to deliver a product in line with expectations (from raw material to finished product) is carried out in the most time-efficient, cost-effective and worker-safe way while still maintaining overall product quality.

As an experienced engineer in a mechanical carpentry workshop, you will analyze and assess the “As is” and propose improvements to reach the desired optimization, which could come from processes, technology, machinery, training, etc.

Main activities:

  • Develop an industrial strategy of the local production unit

    o   Assess the “as is”, develop a vision and implement improvements

    o   Plan and design the factory (layout), the best process and material flow, the technology to manufacture the product using the most rational use of available resources, information and space

    o   Coordinate with the production team to define and prioritize the process improvement

    o   Bring a technical expertise (supporting the plant manager & production supervisor) view about the realization and industrialization of technical solution to deliver products

    o   Support the make vs buy analysis 

    o   Qualify the capability of delivering the customers/technical department requirements in term of feasibility and quality in a repetitive way. Act as a guard on what is achievable or not

    o   Prepare the “business case” for investments related to manufacturing and the requirement specifications and follow up end to end (up to commissioning of equipment)

  • Plan and manage industrial operations

    o    Manage experimentation and implementation of solutions, new processes, modification to existing, identify levers for improvements

    o    Support the new product launch plans from a manufacturing point of view (together with technical and quality teams)

    o    Prepare elaboration of product structure (activities & work centers) and routings (time per activity) for new products and support the review/analysis of existing ones in order to optimize or in case of deviation from the standards

    o    Coordinate all activities required for new processes to be become operational:

      • Prepare work instructions
      • provide advice and support to involved departments and support training activities

    o    Monitor performance indicators and take actions if necessary (yield %, scrap, efficiency, number of employees involved, material use, energy use,  quality)

    o    Ensure that production achieves quality standards in compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations

    o    Participate in the external supplying qualification (quality & costs)

    o    Ensure equipment availability (equipment life cycle, preventive maintenance, spare part availability, manage internal or external maintenance team)

  • Additional activities

      • Troubleshooting on manufacturing equipment
      • Ad hoc support to the plant manager (analytics, project management)

Qualifications and experience:

  • You have an  Engineering degree  with 7-10 year experience as Manufacturing Engineer
  • You are familiar with assessment tools to drive continuous improvement: Six Sigma, Ishikawa (green or superior belt is a plus)
  • Your experience is with mechanical production industry (steel carpentry is a plus)
  • You have experience in designing factory flow & equipment to drive improved output & efficiency
  • You know the basics of project management
  • You have “workable” knowledge of design tools (Autocad, SolidWorks)
  • You are proficient in  business English and Italian

Job Conditions:

  • The role requires occasional spot travelling throughout Europe  for short missions
  • Contract type - C.C.N.L. Metalmeccanici Industria (Collective National Contract for mechanical compartment employees)
